Industrial Silencer is a device designed to reduce the noise created by explosions during the combustion process. Silencers are also known as ‘mufflers’ are designed using latest technology and top grade raw materials to reduce the noise.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MUFFLERS AND SILENCER

Muffler(in American term) is a device used to decrease the noise created in exhaust system of internal combustion engine is also called as Silencer(in British English)APPLICATION

  • Vent/blow down silencer -> Blow down silencers are applicable for rapid exhaust or venting application to reduce the noise.

  • Pressure relief valve silencer-> It is designed uses within back pressure or pressure relief valves to reduction of noise associated with relief blow off silencer.

TYPES OF NOISE REDUCTION SILENCER

Noise can be caused by number of factors including fans, the air pass through a straight duct and flow of air through component such as branches, elbows, tubes and so on.

Noise reduction silencers are categories into four types they are listed below

  • Absorptive or dissipative silencer
  • Reflective or reactive silencer
  • Diffuser or depression silencer
  • Active silencer

ABSORPTIVE OR DISSIPATIVE SILENCER:

Absorptive silencer uses a fibrous material, which absorb sound waves. In HVAC duct system this type of silencer are frequently used. Absorptive silencers are simple straight through the design which minimize the restriction of air flow, It particularly good for high noise frequencies range from 500 to 800 HZ.

REFLECTIVE OR REACTIVE SILENCER:

Reflective silencer is used for a fixed speed machinery which is producing pure tones. Reflective or reactive silencers are reducing noise in essentially reflect the sound waves back to source were they came from.

DIFFUSER OR DEPRESSIVE SILENCER

Diffuser type of silencers are used to slow down velocity and prevent the generation of low frequency noise, It is mainly applicable on nozzles control valves, jet engines and so on.

ACTIVE SILENCER

Active silencer is also known as “Noise cancelling silencer” which essentially cancelling the out disturbing sound, so they create a lack of sound by creating a noise.
